About the McDonough County Special Recreation Association

Calling All Volunteers! WE NEED YOU!

We need your help to empower people with disabilities in and around your community!

The McDonough County Special Recreation Association (MCSRA) is in need of volunteers of the highest caliber! The organization offers community-based Therapeutic Recreation opportunities to individuals with disabilities or special needs of all ages.  The program is interested in finding fun-loving individuals who want to volunteer their time and attention during our events.  We are looking for individuals who could help a participant in the program enjoy the event to the fullest and have fun themselves!  Here are just a few events that we will be doing this Fall:

1. Exploring Lakeview Nature Center
2. Fishing at Spring Lake
3. Wet and Wild fun at the Glenwood Pool
4. Cheering on the Peoria Chiefs to victory
5. Enjoying the local festival
6. Arts and crafts nights
7. And much, much more!

If you are a student who has a field experience or has a volunteer requirement to fulfill, a person who wants to be out an about with people who love to do the same, or a community group who would love to donate some time, please call the Special Recreation Coordinator at 309-833-4562.
